Dimensional Weight Calculator: FedEx, UPS & USPS
Calculate billable weight based on package dimensions.
What is Dimensional Weight?
Carriers like UPS, FedEx, and DHL charge based on whichever is greater: the actual scale weight or the 'Dimensional Weight'. This prevents trucks from being filled with light, bulky boxes (like pillows) that take up space but pay very little.
The Formula
- Multiply Length × Width × Height to get cubic inches.
- Divide by the DIM Divisor (typically 139 for commercial daily rates).
- Round up to the nearest pound.
- Compare this number to the actual weight. The carrier will bill you for the higher number.
