Concrete Calculator: Bags & Yards Estimator
Determine the number of 80lb or 60lb bags of concrete needed.
Calculating Concrete Needs
Whether you are ordering a truck (yards) or buying bags from the store, accurate measurement is vital. Concrete is permanent, so it is better to have slightly too much than not enough.
Quick Bag Reference
| Slab Size (4in thick) | 60lb Bags Needed | 80lb Bags Needed |
|---|---|---|
| 4' x 4' | 12 | 9 |
| 6' x 6' | 27 | 20 |
| 8' x 8' | 48 | 36 |
| 10' x 10' | 75 | 56 |
How to Determine Bags Needed
- Calculate the total Cubic Yards required.
- Convert yards to Cubic Feet (multiply by 27).
- Divide by the yield of the bag (0.45 cu ft for 60lb bags, 0.60 cu ft for 80lb bags).
Concrete Questions
How many bags of concrete make a yard?
You need approximately 45 bags of 60lb mix or 60 bags of 40lb mix to equal one cubic yard of concrete.
Should I mix by hand or order a truck?
If you need more than 1 cubic yard (about 45 bags), it is often easier and cost-effective to order a ready-mix truck.
